The SUN has learnt that the review of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, may have been temporarily shelved to avoid brewing rancour and unnecessary bitterness in the party before and during the convention.
The amendments, The SUN learnt came up during the last National Executive Convention, NEC, but it was resolved that NEC would have to do a second reading. However, according to information gathered from a top source the amendments had to be well studied and explained. For now, this process is inconclusive and the amendments may be shelved.
The opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF party will officially launch hostilities ahead of the elective convention expected to renew the party structures and give it a new National Chairman. The information was released by the Secretary General of the SDF, Barrister Adeline Lord Djomgang few days after the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting.
The National Executive Committee NEC, meeting last October 7, 2023 at the Centre Regional Secretariat of the SDF at Olezoa in Yaounde was chaired by the SDF’s Chairman, Hon Joshua OsihNambangi.
‘‘It is the last NEC meeting for this mandate.’’ Joshua Osih disclosed.
He explained that ‘‘This NEC today is to finalize our preparation towards our convention. We are locked up with issues. My wish is that at the end of the convention each member will go back with a smile. Let’s construct bridges and not walls. We need everyone to construct the SDF during the convention to hold at the Warda Sports Complex. The world is watching us, if we fail to rise. Our objective is not to win at the convention but to see us at Unity Palace, Prime Minister’s Office, the Senate, the National Assembly, Councils and Regional Assemblies etc. 2400 Delegates at expected in Yaounde for the convention.’’
Hon Osih advised his comrades that instead of fighting among themselves ‘‘Let’s use this same energy to fight the CPDM and win during elections.’’
He explained that ‘‘that is the only duty we owe our late National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi. Most of us are candidates and we will decide on the day of our campaign. I wish this meeting to be short. It is because we have the SDF at heart that we want this convention to succeed. He lauded efforts of Each Unit, District, Regional executives for personal sacrifice made to keep the SDF alive.’’
