31-year-old Kumba boy beheads mother over slice of meat

Shock and consternation gripped the entire population of Kumba in Meme Division especially the inhabitants of the Bambileke street neighbourhood Tuesday May 9, 2017 when news broke that a 31-year-old boy whose name The SUN got as Rexon Ebango chopped off the mothers head 62-year-old Ebango Agnes Ebango who was already making arrangement to fly to Canada.
THE SUN gathered that the Rexon Ebango, who had just and joined her mother in the residence of her elder sister, a Rev Pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon in Bangem from their native Ebonji Village in Tombel Sub Division, Kupe-Muanenguba Division.
The row between Rexon and Mother that led to the macabre act developed over the inadequate “meat” in his food. Rexon is reported to have complained bitterly that the amount of slices of meat served to him was small and fumed seriously that it must be added. As he went towards the pot to forcefully get more meat, he was stopped by one of his sisters. He immediately ran into vexation and started chasing her sister who ran for her dear life with a knife. It was at the juncture that Rexon returned home entered the living and met her mother who was seriously in prayers with her bible. Before this day, his behaviour in the house had change greatly as he became a thorn in the flesh of all and sundry. The mother earlier requested that he should be ferried back to Ebonji in order to give peace a chance in the house.
However, Rexon didn’t allow her mother to shout at him over his reaction towards the few slices of meat served him for lunch. He immediately got a cutlass from the house and chopped off her mother’s head.
A strange noise from the Ebango’s residence attracted the population to the scene, only to realise that Rexon had beheaded the mother. The news spread like wild fire and Rexon was given snake beatings by the angry mob that turned out. He was rescued by the timely intervention of the Rapid Police Intervention Unit ,ESIR. He was then taken to the Kumba Central Police Station and later rushed to the Kumba District Hospital for treatment.
The remains of Agnes Ebango were hurriedly buried the next day in her native Ebonji village in strict bakossi traditional style reserved for victims of abominable acts, while Rexon Ebango has been remanded at the Kumba principal prison following instructions from the State Counsel for Meme, Justice Affah Emmanuel Annah.
Reports have it that Rexon, a bright and intelligent boy had started exhibiting some strange behavior since seven years ago after brilliantly passing the Police Superintendent exams and was forced to withdraw. The family had tried in futility to get him back to his senses until the worst happened that fateful Tuesday.
