Cameroon Bar Secretary, Barr. Anne Yolande

“I am honoured to present you my Award, the AFBA Merit Leadership Award, 2024, received from the African BAR Conference in Lusaka, Zambia. I am happy to share my joy with you. When I do my work, I do so out of passion and in performance of the duty of service that is incumbent on me as a leader. Never have I contemplated awards or recognitions. There are probably others more deserving of this award, so while I accept same, I do so with measure of humility. I am grateful to the members of the jury who found in me a worthy recipient of this award. Can I hold on myself? I don’t think so”.

She furthered that, “This award is dedicated to my colleagues in the North West and South West Regions- fine gentlemen who unfortunately are challenged by the realities of their place, time, circumstances, yet brave the odds and keep the faith.  Since 2017, I have been with you, and this will not change. Wherever Lawyers are in difficulty, I feel immediately summoned to intervene unconditionally. I am also thinking of the young Lawyers who look up to me for inspiration. This Award is for you too. It is a testament to the fact that you can achieve a lot more when you don’t care who takes the credit. Don’t be despaired, but keep your hands on the plough. I am thinking of the gentlemen in skirts, the often ignored and stereotyped. To you I say this; YOU Are UPWARD BOUND.  The final grain of my gratitude goes to my Bar President, The People’s Batonnier and the entire Cameroon Bar. Without you I would have been capable of nothing worthy of recognition. I do not work for glory, yet glory has found me. THANK YOU”
