A taxi driver in Buea whose names The SUN got as Asonglefack Armstrong died on the wheels on his car last Wednesday October 18, 2017 around Sandpit, a neighborhood in Buea while transporting passengers.
On that fateful day, the late Armstrong was transporting passengers as usual when one of them alighted from the car at Sandpit. Armstrong suddenly developed a heart attack while still on the wheels and died on the spot.
According to the Secretary General of the National Syndicate of Taxi drivers in Cameroon, Buea branch, Eben Chu; “The late Mr Asonglefack Armstrong we learned was a cardiac patient for a very long time now. He has been hospitalized severally for this heart malaise at the Shishong hospital in Bamenda. While at the hospital, he was connected to tubes to enable him breathe properly….
“He was just struggling to survive. He faced a lot of difficult times and hardship and had no one to help him reason why he decided to earn a living by engaging himself into the taxi business” Eben Chu narrated.
He added that Armstrong got married about three years ago and was abandoned by his family immediately after for the wife who took care of him until the unfortunate incident. He left behind a kid for the wife to look after.
In preparation for the funeral, the national Syndicate of Taxi drivers in Cameroon have taken upon themselves to give their friend and colleague a befitting burial by producing pictures of the deceased to be put on all taxes around, buy the coffin, dress the deceased and even support the bereaved family financially and morally.
“We have been existing as a syndicate for about five years now and the deceased, Asonglefack Armstrong has been part of us and a very dedicated member. We will deeply miss him and we pray he finds eternal rest in the bosom of God Almighty”, the secretary general said.
Asonglefack will be laid to rest on Friday November 3, 2017 in Buea.
