Real business will start this November on the Babadjou-Bamenda road with the presence of more sophisticated building equipments on the road. The revelation was made last October 26, 2017 by Public Works Minister, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi as he received in audience for a working session, a delegation of officials of the constructions company, SOGEA SATOM to brief him on the situation of 8 projects awarded to them by the Cameroon government.
Speaking in the presence of Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works in charge of roads, Louis Max Ohandja, Public Works Minister, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi told SOGEA SATOM contractors that “though at our level, we know that work has already started on the Babadjou-Bamenda road, but make sure to put more equipments on that road this November so that the population can be convinced that work is truly ongoing.”

Quizzed to know if there are concerns that need to be addressed on the Babadjou-Bamenda road, the Deputy Regional Director of SOGEA-SATOM for Cameroon, Chad and Central African Republic, Marc Grechi told reporters that “there is no real concern so far. We are mobilizing according to the schedule of work and we are committed to it. We are working on execution project and it requires a lot of time because as a road project, there are a lot of elements to be gathered and checked such as bridges, culverts, the road structure etc.”
The SOGEA SATOM official declared to reporters that “After we identified and confirmed the quarry site which is a very important element, we are mobilizing our teams and equipments so that as soon as the first execution rate is validated by the engineer, we will immediately start with the construction proper.”
The Babadjou-Bamenda 52km road is being rehabilitated by SOGEA SATOM since July 4, 2017 and the work is expected to be completed by July 4, 2019 and will cost some FCFA 39,3 billion (with World Bank to provide 31, 734 billion and the government through its public investment budget will provide 7, 565 billion.)
The contractor equally briefed the Minister on other projects realized by them such as the tarring of the Ndop-Kumbo stretch on the ring-road, construction work on the second bridge over river Wouri, maintenance work at the West entrance into Douala (phase I), construction work on the Batchenga-Ntui-Yoko-Lena-Tibati road, construction work on the Olama-Bingambo road, rehabilitation work on the Ndoupe-Dibamba stretch etc.
