Fako Delegate for water resources faults

The divisional delegate for water resources and energy for Fako Victorine Mbibu Karngong blames management committees for responsible for causing water shortage in Fako Division.
She made this statement last Thursday 22, February 2018 at the divisional delegation of water resources and energy during a press conference.
In a question and answer session on why some localities in Fako Division face water shortages, the divisional delegate blamed the destruction of pipes and other hazards by the population themselves for causing persistent water shortage in the city.
She added that there is water shortage all over the world and people can’t live without water, reason the community has to learn to manage water available to them properly.
Victorine Mbibu said the delegation is sensitizing communities on the importance of water and ways of managing water so that everyone will benefit.
“I really wish that the population of Fako Division is going to listen to what I am going to tell them during the sensitisation tour and put it into practice so that everyone is going to benefit from water.” Victorine Mbibu told reporters.
“People should not die because of water since water is available everywhere and there are simple ways of treating water so that everyone should have water.
Quizzed on some of the activities she will be carrying out before the celebration of world water day on March 22, she said they will visit primary schools to talk to pupils on the necessity and importance of water while awarding prizes to meritorious pupils.
The tour will then move to secondary schools where three best students will be selected. The delegation will on March 21, visit the Mile 4 Bonadikombo water catchment to see how the community is working with the government to supply water to people.
According to the delegate, when the community is involved in water management, it makes the water more sustainable.
On Thursday March 22, World Water Day, a ceremony will take place at Limbe City Council Hall Down Beach which will be chaired by the SDO for Fako Where experts will talk on the theme of this year’s water day and there will be exhibitions of partners who are involve with water including, Sonara, GIZ, Les Brasseries du Cameroon among others so the public can see what water can do.
