A young man whose only name The SUN got as Brian, a caterpillar operator working at the Neptune quarry located along the Mokunda road in the Limbe II Subdivision is reported dead, after a portion of the quarry collapsed burying him, while on duty.
According to information The SUN gathered, the said Brian, 26, came to the quarry very early Tuesday, October 29, 2019 set for work alongside his assistant.
After working for about an hour, his assistant is reported to have taken permission to answer nature’s call, leaving behind Brian to continue with the huge demand they had for the day to satisfy their numerous clients. Reports say it was at this juncture that the top soil collapsed, burying the caterpillar operator beneath the soil of the said quarry.
Immediately alarm was raised and rescue missions went to work and after closed to 15 minutes of digging, they succeeded to remove Brian alive, but he later gave up the ghost on the way to the Limbe Regional Hospital. His mortal remains have been deposited at the Limbe Regional hospital mortuary pending burial.
