Idenau canoe capsize leaves one dead

One person has died and over 20 others rescued, after a long and narrow canoe capsised on Monday, November 4, 2019 off Idenau, West Coast of Limbe, according to the Cameroon Navy.
The incident is said to have occurred on the high sea when the passengers left Mundemba for Ideanau.
Survivors said local fishermen were the first to arrive and rescue passengers when they met with disaster on sea.
Rescuers from the Cameroon Navy later joined the fishermen in the rescue operation that was “quite successful”, according to the Navy officials.
One person dove into the sea in an attempt to swim to safety but did not make it, the officials said.
The passengers are said to be mostly students and traders of Cameroonian and Nigerian nationalitie
