Three senior staff of Cameroon Development Corporation CDC in Mabeta ‘Njanga’, in the Limbe III Subdivision, Fako Division are reported to have been kidnapped by alleged separatist fighters, last January 22, 2020 and taken to an unknown destination.
According to reports, The SUN gathered that the three senior staff are: Johna Mangi, Ignatius Timmy and another whose only name The SUN got as Njalla.
The Chief security guard of CDC Mabeta, Njong Fidelis told the Divisional Officer for Limbe III Epolewane Verkline who visited the estate that, the fighters were about six in number, well armed with guns, and they abducted the three CDC staff in the bush which is about several kilometers from the estate office. He said they demanded a ransom of FCFA 1 million from the victims, said to procure guns for their struggle.
Though the incident is not the first in the CDC Mabeta ‘Njanga’ estate, Epolewane Verkline assured security is guaranteed for the population.
She explained to the workers that security posts will be opened at the CDC camp soonest, while calling for collaboration between CDC workers and the military, to put an end to the rampant kidnapping of persons in the area.
At press time, the CDC was yet to issue a statement on the issue and the whereabouts of the victims were still unknown as investigations continued.
