In a unique move, the Presidential Majority Alliance comprising the UPC, UNDP, ANDP and APF parties has thrown its weight behind the CPDM, ahead of the October 2025 Presidential election. This took place during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the CPDM, at the premises of the party Secretariat in the Fako 1A Section in Limbe.
Speaking at the event, the representative of the Alliance, Baounga Mbeng Michel, Divisional President of the UPC, said, “We are here to give the baton of command to our colleague who is the one who has to pilot the presidential election in Fako 1A. This gives him the recognition for the long standing relationship of the Presidential Majority and CPDM. We also want to acknowledge the good relationship we share in this town of Limbe with the administration “, he said.
To Ludwig Makaka Williams, the representative said, “Dear colleague, this has never happened before… this is to tell you that as you are ahead, we are behind you… Our natural candidate, President Paul Biya must pass here in Fako”, he said.
The baton was then received with force by the interim Section President of CPDM Fako 1A, to the applause and jubilation of militants present.
The guest of honour at the celebration in Fako 1A, Hon. Etombi Ikome Gladys, Vice President of the CPDM Parliamentary Group at the National Assembly and Member of Parliament MP for Fako East Constituency, described Biya as a reference leader. While holding that 40 years is not 40 days, she said their champion, Paul Biya has made their party to stand tall the world over.
“The vision of the leader matters”, Etombi said, admonishing that life is not a straight line and that people should endeavour to look forward in the midst of challenges. Echoing words like resilience, patience, tolerance, peace etc, Hon. Etombi pointed out that violence does not solve any problem, urging all to live peacefully with each other.

“CPDM party is for everyone; let us all stand strong behind our candidate to ensure he wins in flying colours… A Biya win is leeway to better things “, she said.
In his speech, CPDM Fako 1A interim Section president, Ludwig Makaka Williams said Biya secured the creation of the CPDM to provide appropriate responses to the demands of national construction and the future concerns of the Cameroon people.

“The CPDM party has stood grounds to speed up political reforms in a bid to resolutely lead Cameroon in the part of modernisation, and the participation of a large number of persons in the decision making process”. He also said that, ” The CPDM party over the years has resolutely fought for peace, unity, justice, progress and nationalistic values.”
To his Fako 1A comrades, Makaka urged that, “As we all know, the 40th anniversary celebration of the party coincides with the 2025 Presidential election, and in the act of celebrating, we are all called upon to take time off to think and carry out a deep reflection on the stakes involved. I therefore implore all the militants to put hands on deck and take active part in the preparations of the election, so as to align our efforts with our aspirations as a political party of our era.”
Other speakers at the event included the WCPDM and YCPDM Section presidents, Eposi Luma Njanjo and Ekema Roland Ngale respectively, who all spoke of the good things Biya has done and the need to keep him at the helm of the nation. Songs and dance, Motion of Support to Biya were other highlights of the celebration.
