Kumba II council inaugurates FCFA 78 million health centre

The newly constructed and equipped Kosala integrated health center in Kumba II Sub-Division worth the sum of FCFA 78million has finally gone operational.
The inauguration ceremony took place this week at Fongod Quarter and was chaired by the representative of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme, the Divisional Officer, DO for Kumba II Sub-Division, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor of the Kumba II Council, Martin Forcha Ndobegang noted that the health center is one of Kumba II Council’s greatest achievements during his term in office.
He said it has always been their priority to facilitate access to quality healthcare and bring modern healthcare facilities closer to the population.
Mayor Ndobegang disclosed that the health centre could not go operational in 2012 when it was created because of the unavailability of a befitting structure. During his term of office he decided to rent a structure so that the population can start making use of the center.
The Mayor thanked the population and those who gave their lands for expropriation for the construction of the health center. He called on the management of the health center to ensure that the structure and equipments are maintained so that in the near future ,the government can see reasons to upgrade it to a full hospital.
Mayor Ndobegang revealed that in the days ahead, the council will commence the construction of a borehole worth FCFA 8million for center. He further called on government authorities in the division to accelerate the provision of a kitchen, placenta pit, electricity, pipe born water and many more.
Dr. Zacheus Ebongo Nanje, the District Medical Officer, DMO, for Kumba Health District on his part assured the public of the quality of equipments installed in the health center.
“The health centre conforms to the laid down designs from the Ministry of Public Health and the health centre has been well equipped for a fourth degree health facility, I think it is equipped to almost 99%”, he noted.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Quarter Head thanked the Mayor for carrying out such a developmental project in their neighbourhood. He said the difficulties they used to go through to access healthcare is now a thing of the past.
The DO of Kumba II Sub-Division assured the population of the provision of basic amenities as soon as possible so as ensure the smooth functioning of the center.
It should be noted that the Kosala Integrated Health Center was constructed at the tune of FCFA 50 million and equipped at the sum of over FCFA 28million with funds from the Ministry of Public Health through the public investment budget for the division.
