The second phase of the Limbe Urban Master Plan has been launched.This took place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Limbe City Council deliberating chamber, Bota Limbe, under the chair of Fako Senior Divisional Officer (SDO), represented by the First Assistant, Awa Dean and hosted by Limbe City Mayor, Paul Efome L.M Ngale.
Speaking during the launch, Limbe City Mayor, Paul Efome expressed satisfaction with the first phase of the project being carried out by MAETUR and sounded positive ahead of the second stage.

Paul Efome invited all stakeholders of Limbe to give their full collaboration and contribute to the success of this second phase.
He stressed that the aim of the renewal of the second phase of the Limbe Urban Master Plan is to design the town and provide amenities such as roads, schools, green spaces, markets, make provision for land use plan, industrial zones and hospitals to suit the needs of the population.

“The renewal of the Urban Master Plan was prompted with several aspects of development in the municipality. First of all it was prompted by growth of the municipality” Paul Efome said.
He added that the town needed to be restructured for infrastructural development so as to sell the vision of the town to touristic investors.
“Today as we officially launch phase II of this project, we stand at a decisive moment in this transformative journey. This phase will diagnose work carried out in phase I” Paul Efome said.

In her intervention, the Divisional Delegate of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU) for Fako, Ngangsi Regina, explained that the second phase will run for six months, with budget allocated by MINHDU at FCFA 215 million.
“We have FCFA 100 million available for this project and next year 2026 we have FCFA 115 million, Ngangsi Regina explained.
She urged the population to work in synergy for the realisation of this second phase of the project.
MAETUR’s Deputy Director General, Mbong Michael Mbine, representing the General Manager, applauded Limbe City Mayor for the initiative to have the City develop in such a sustainable manner.

He assured him of MAETUR’s great commitment and responsibility as the institutional developer of the State of Cameroon to ensure that they provide LCC with up to date sustainable and very outstanding work that will enhance the development of the City.
Mbong Michael took time to outline the technical, geological, geographical and relief characteristics of the city of Limbe, highlighting specificities that shall be addressed by the new Urban Master Plan.
Limbe City Council Secretary General, Kinge Thompson Molonge, while presenting the budget said the overall goal of phase II is to elaborate the development scenario of the Limbe Urban Master Plan in a way that reflects the local needs of the population in line with National Strategy NS30.
He said the estimated budget for Limbe Urban Master Plan is FCFA 616 million including taxes. “The PM gave instructions to MINHDU to make an initial payment of FCFA 300 million while ensuring that the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development to completes it”, Kinge Thompson added.
He said the second phase which costs FCFA 215 million including VAT will be done in two stages; the first stage for 2025 costs FCFA 100 million and stage two for 2026 costs FCFA 115 million, while the last phase costs FCFA 345 million which they are soliciting for support.
Speaking shortly after the launch, the Mayor of Limbe I Council, Mbwaye Eposi Florence said the Limbe Master Plan is for the entire Limbe municipality, in this regard she pledged to support Limbe City Mayor in his vision to update the Master Plan.
“We need to put our heads together to make sure the City Mayor succeeds in this vision. It’s actually an important role he has taken to look at the infrastructure and everything that concerns Limbe municipality” Mbwaye Eposi said.
On his part, the Mayor of Limbe II Council, HRM Chief Ndive Woka Ngale Daniel applauded LCC for championing such a lovely initiative.
“It was vital for a review of the Master Plan to incorporate latest happenings with the climate situation and other natural disasters. We’re giving all our support to LCC to realise this project so that Limbe should be well structured in the future”, HRH Chief Ndive Woka said.
Stakeholders and MAETUR technicians gave themselves the huge task of transforming this phase II to the next stage of the project. The previous Urban Master Plan of Limbe expired in 2022
