The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme has lauded the City Mayor of Kumba, Gregory Mewanu for development endeavours.

The message of appreciation was expressed through the Second Assistant SDO for Meme, Hermia Njoje, while leading a delegation to the premises of the Kumba City Council, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

The delegation, which included the Meme Divisional Delegate of Decentralisation and Local Development, MINDDEVEL, Elangwe Venus, engaged in a comprehensive tour of various services within the council, starting from the Mayor’s cabinet.

Prior to the visit, there were preliminary discussions between the delegation and the City Mayor, Gregory Mewanu, addressing concerns and queries raised by both parties.

“Since the Delegate of MINDDEVEL has just been appointed, we thought it wise that she comes to the various councils and sets herself abreast with the different services which are found in the Councils since it’s her area of work,” explained the SDO’s Second Assistant.

Following the tour, the Second Assistant SDO expressed appreciation for the efforts of the City Council, urging them to continue their endeavours.

“My impressions are good; with my many years of being in Kumba, it’s the first time of its kind to visit all the services at the Kumba City Council. Much has to be done, but already a lot is being done, and I think we will all work in collaboration to make that possible in the days ahead,” remarked the Second Assistant SDO.

The newly appointed MINDDEVEL Divisional Delegate on her part acknowledged the operational status of all services at the City Council but emphasised the need for measures to enhance orderliness.

The visit concluded with positive feedback from the Ministry delegation, highlighting the progress made by the Kumba City Council and equally highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between the council and the Ministry for further development initiatives.

At the end of the working visit, the Kumba City Mayor remained grateful to the delegation and sounded hope that the days ahead will see both the council and the MINDDEVEL Delegate working in synergy to accelerate the decentralisation efforts put in place by the Head of State H.E. President Paul Biya and being implemented by Minister Elanga Obam of MINDDEVEL.
