MTN Cameroon has officially launched the 11th edition of 21 Days of Yello Care program recently. The development was made known through a release informing us of the launch.
According to the goals of the programme the 21 days is a period traditionally kept aside for the direct participation of MTN employees in the construction of quality infrastructures and the donation of school equipment and tools to provide and encourage schools to attain quality education.
Following their mission statement “It shall be the occasion for the employees of MTN to mobilize during 21 days in favor of quality education for all. The 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme is a voluntary and charity initiative initiated by the MTN Group which each year engages its employees to carry out for 21 days, social actions for the welfare of communities in the operations of the Group World Wide.”
This year’s edition is seen to include what they describe as high-impact projects to be entirely funded by the foundation, to cut across several localities in the nation. They have listed as priorities the construction and equipping of a scientific laboratory and library at Government Bilingual High School Bobongo Petit Paris in Douala which was recently reputed as the best school in the last classification by the Baccalaureat Board. Also found in the list of projects is the digitization of teaching materials of the University of Buea including e-learning platform accessible with or without internet connectivity, the collection of books to equip several school libraries across Cameroon and the digitization of educative content destined for the YelloBook.cm digital library.
Madam Philisiwe Sibiya, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon rounds up her expectations “These projects will have a direct impact on over 25.000 students and teachers. The commitment of MTN employees is maintained for the 11th consecutive year. It is our contribution to make education a determining weapon to change lives in Cameroon.”
