New ARSEL DG challenged to ensure regular power supply in Cameroon

The new Director General of the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency, ARSEL, Jean Pascal Nkou appointed last August 21, 2019 by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya has been challenged to work with other stakeholders in order to ensure regular power supply in Cameroon, ensure that the interests and rights of consumers are protected etc.
The new DG was given his new tasks last August 26, 2019 at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel during a brief commissioning ceremony chaired by the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba.

The Minister also challenged Jean Pascal Nkou to ensure the respect of legislation governing the electricity subsector in the country and manage litigations between consumers and the electricity distribution company.
Speaking to reporters after officially taking up duties, Jean Pascal Nkou with 25 years of professionalism as macro economist with specialty in statistics and economic engineering, pledged to tackle the persistent ordeals consumers go through with the frequent power failures and also address the problem of overbilling and other major concerns.
He has served as consultant for major projects with national and international institutions such as the African Development Bank and the World Bank.
Before his appointment, Jean Pascal Nkou was the Head of Division for Economic Policy Analysis in the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development.
Born on December 12, 1967, the new ARSEL boss is married and father of three children.
He takes over from Jean Pierre Kedi who reports say, had been asking to be replaced.
