New Kumba DMO installed
The newly appointed District Medical Officer, DMO for the Kumba Health District, the biggest district in the South West Region, Dr. Amos Njikang has been commissioned into office. Dr. Njikang was installed on Wednesday, September 26, 2019 at the esplanade of the health service by the representative of the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the South West Region. Dr. Njikang takes over from Dr. Ebongo Zacheus Nanje, who was promoted as the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the South West Region.
The DMO was urged to work hard to improve on the health activities in the district especially with the National Immunization programmes. The outgoing DMO, Dr. Ebongo took over the health district in 2018 and so far worked to increase the number of health facilities in the district from 34 to 36, thereby making the Kumba Health District, the largest in the South West Region.
The new DMO will have an odious task to ensure the smooth functioning of the district especially with the present socio-political crisis situation in the country that has hindered the accessibility of most areas and forced some health facilities to close abruptly.
The new DMO promised to work with his collaborators to ensure better services for the health district.
“For now, I think we have meetings with my other collaborators and I will have a clearer picture of what is happening in the field and from there we’ll see how to proceed”, the DMO averred.
The staff and close collaborators were also challenged to work hand in hand with the new DMO in order for them to be able to meet their targeted goals.
