The Lower House of Cameroon Parliament finally has a new Secretary General almost 2 years since the sacking of Gaston Komba last January 28, 2022.
The former Mayor of the Sangmelima Council, Andre Noel Essian has been installed as new Secretary General of the National Assembly. He was appointed by Bureau Order N°2023/40/28/AB/AN of the National Assembly and installed last November 24, 2023 by Senior Deputy Speaker, Hon Hilarion Etong.
The installation ceremony of Andre Noel Essian was chaired by the Senior Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Hilarion Etong as personal representative of Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. The ceremony took place at the Committee Room A of the Yaounde Conference Centre.
In his installation speech, Hon Hilarion Etong congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in his new functions.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Senior Deputy Speaker urged the new Secretary General ‘‘to be available, dynamic and attentive. Mr. Andre Noel Essian is an exceptional man with an admirable career and the new Secretary General is a manager at heart and a fine politician with a proven track record. The record of service of the new administrative boss of the National Assembly speaks for itself.’’
Born last December 23, 1969, Andre Noel Essian is currently a Doctorate Degree student in Public Law in the University of Douala. He replaces Abdoullaye Daouda who has been acting in this position since 28 January 2022 following the sacking of Gaston Komba as Secretary General of the National Assembly.
