The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute last April 3, 2020 chaired an evaluation meeting of government measures against COVID-19 via a video conference.
Sitting alone in front of his laptop connected to the internet and projected on a large screen on the wall of his Lake-side residence in Yaoundé, the Prime Minister held a digital conference with the stakeholders concerned with the implementation of the government strategy against COVID-19 in Cameroon.
Scrutinising the level of implementation of these measures, PM Joseph Dion Ngute via the video conference had a live discussion with members of government and other stakeholders from their respective locations.
In his preliminary statement, the Prime Minister, Head of Government explained that the video conference is part of periodic meetings to shape the country’s response to COVID-19.
When given the floor, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie told the conference that 38 new cases of the Coronavirus have been detected in Cameroon taking the total number of infected persons to 284 with 8 deaths but at press time, the numbers had evolved.
Orientating discussion on the transporter’s strike action announced for this Monday April 6, 2020, the PM gave the floor to the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe who presented measures being taken to preclude the announced general strike of transporters’ unions.
The Prime Minister then gave the floor to Finance Minister, Louis Paul Motaze to present modalities concerning the financing of the special Solidarity Fund to support the fight against COVID-19 in Cameroon created by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
Through the video conference, government is demonstrating to citizens that working from home is an effective alternative for those who have the possibility in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
