Rehabilitation of Potholes on Edéa-Kribi Road is going to cost Cameroon CFA7bn.

Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has recently announced to the National Assembly that CFA7 billion will be allocated for the rehabilitation of the Edéa-Kribi road. He pointed out that two companies were already working on the deteriorating road that the area had. Funding for the project is drawn from the Public Investment Budget (BIP) and the African Development Bank (ADB).

Of this amount, CFA4 billion is being funded through the BIP and the Road Fund, while CFA3 billion from the ADB is part of the Ring Road project in the Northwest. More precisely, the funds received from the Ndu-Nkambe-Misaje section of the Ring Road project would be partly utilized for the rehabilitation of Edéa-Kribi road. According to the Minister, “work is under way and is quite visible despite the rains.”

The road links Edéa in the Littoral region to the port city of Kribi over a distance of about 110 km, and due to its poor condition, movement of people and goods has been hampered. Mag Sarl and Somaf are the firms in charge of doing the work.
