The Minister of Health suspends and withdraws the approval of several hygiene companies for non-compliance with the law

Manaouda Malachie, the Minister of Public Health (Minsanté) made two decisions on April 1 relating to the suspension and withdrawal of approval of several private companies operating in the field of hygiene and sanitation. The first decision thus suspends the approval of 43 private companies for a renewable period of three months. During this period, the pinned companies will not be able to carry out disinfection, rodent control, disinsection and other hygiene and sanitation activities. These companies are mainly based in the cities of Douala and Yaoundé. The Minister of Public Health explains in his decision that this suspension is the consequence of an inspection mission report on the activities of these companies, carried out between October and November 2023.

The second decision simply withdraws the approval of 25 private hygiene and sanitation companies. These companies are now prohibited from all the activities mentioned above after an inspection report drawn up by inspectors from the Health Promotion Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health.

We note that the decisions of Minsanté are based on a decree of January 3, 2005 which sets the conditions for opening, renewing, suspending or withdrawing the approval of a private hygiene and/or sanitation.
