24-year-old Macnicol Buma, an entrepreneur based in Buea, has been crowned winner of the beauty contest, held in prelude to the celebration of the 11th edition of Meveo Cultural and Development Assembly, MEVCUDA, billed to kickoff on December 28, 2024 at Eneo Ombe. The event took place recently at Miramare Restore Hotel in Limbe I Subdivision.
The beautiful decor of the seaside view with a mixture of traditional and cultural setting announced the 11th edition of MEVCUDA with activities including; national U-20 football tournament, capacity building workshop, handicraft exhibition village, trade exhibition and the general assembly.
It was a long night full of nostalgia as over 300 spectators anxiously watched fifteen (15) finalists in the competition. The fifteen competitors came in six different passages. The contestants paraded and displayed traditional outfits, smiling and cajoling the four-man jury.
The next stage of the contest blew a red signal as spectators became tensed. This time each contestant picked a paper in a ballot box and the members of the jury asked each contestant a question. The next stage comprised of each contestant being asked to express herself and present a project in English and answer two questions.
The jury, headed by the South West Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture, Itoe Doris assisted by the pioneer Miss MEVCUDA, Takang Enanga Tina-Randa (now first runner up of Miss face Cameroon and current Miss Earth Cameroon 2024), declared Macnicol Buma winner of Miss MEVCUDA 2024. She bagged home the sum of FCFA 500.000.
The first runner up, Miss Grace Glance grabbed FCFA 250.000, while Miss Azoa Murielle, second runner up received FCFA 150.000. The rest of the contestants received FCFA 10.000 as consolatory prize.
Speaking to the press, Miss MEVCUDA 2024, Macnicol Buma, thanked God for granting her victory. She went further to add that it was “A dream come-true”. She revealed that she has a project to prompt peace and sustainable development.
“My first course of action is to organise a workshop and seminar for youths and people in the less privileged communities where they can have basic computer knowledge”, Macnicol Buma revealed.
Present at the ceremony was the vision bearer of MEVCUDA, HRH Chief Ndiko Fonderson Henry, Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture, Itoe Doris Divisional Delegates, service heads among others.
The event started with auditioning in Limbe, Buea and online. Meanwhile there were preliminary votes sponsored by SellVotes.com, an online Cameroonian voting platform.
