A Non Governmental Organisation NGO, known as Phride international, recently, during the International Human Rights day extended a hand to over 100 Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Limbe.
In the gesture, Phride International donated items like soap, oil, rice, tomatoes, maggi among others, to aid the IDPs in their daily living.
According to the founder and CEO of Phride International Gwanfogbe Maurice Gangbobga, each anniversary of the Human Rights day reminds them of the terrible human suffering caused by other human beings. “Human rights are fundamental rights and a concern for everyone.”

He added that their duty therefore is to protect, promote and defend the victims so no one or group of people can seize them. “There are no special criteria that qualify anyone of us to become a defender. Therefore all of us can choose to defend human rights if we want to do so”, Gwanfogbe said.
He cautioned the population to report cases of violations, denounce and condemn them with the strongest force and assist the victims no matter who the perpetrator is because the struggle to uphold and protect rights is a collective responsibility for everyone.
“Some of you have lost close family members and friends; thousands are sick and remain under deplorable conditions and hundreds of thousands are displaced, living in absolute misery. We are conscious of your plight, most especially those of your children who have not had the opportunity to go to school for the last three years or more and women delivering in the bushes is deplorable”, Gwanfogbe said, while addressing the IDPs.
