Moh Sylvestre tipped to replace Elung Paul at CSPH
By Norbert Wasso Binde
According to very reliable sources, Mr. Moh Sylvestre Tanghogo, the current Director General of the Treasury is the clear favourite to take over from MinisterDelegate, Elung Paul Che, as general Manager of the National Hydrocarbon Price stabilisation Fund popularly kinwon by its French acronym CSPH.
Since the cabinet reshuffle of October 2014 that catapulted Elung Paul to Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, he has been running the CSPH portfolio cumulatively with his ministerial engagements. The former Director General of the treasury who took a sabbatical training at the prestigious Havard School of economics it is reported as not been getting it easy as there has has been a ferocious fight to replace him. This notwithstanding, the bright and intelligent economist has been up to the task.
While according to our sources the fight to replace Elung has mostly been among Beti elite, notably Antoine Samba, the current Technical Adviser at the Ministry of Finance and on whom there has been a serious buzz on social media of late, it seems the balance has again tilted in favour of another bright and very competent Anglophone. Mr. Moh Sylvestre from all indications has handled the sensitive Directorate General of Treasury with tact and mastery but above all has been very humble, discreet and open.
While things can change very fast at the level of Etoudi especially with the many lobbies at work, Moh’s file we are told is very solid. All the hurdles for his appointment we are told have been cleared except for the last one which is not preponderant. Let’s wait and see.
