Members of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism commission to be installed

The members of the National commission on the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism will be installed into office this Thursday April 27, 2017, in Yaoundé by H.E President Paul Biya.
They were appointed on March 15, 2017, by the President of the Republic with the task of promoting bilingualism and multiculturalism in Cameroon in view of maintaining peace and strengthening the people’s willingness and day-to-day experience with respect to living together.

Hence, they will be submitting reports and recommendations on issues related to the protection of bilingualism and multiculturalism; monitoring the implementation of constitutional provisions establishing English and French as two languages of equal status; conducting studies and proposing measures likely to strengthen cameroon’s bilingual and multicultural character; receiving petitions against discriminations arising from non-compliance with constitutional provisions on the said topic, amongst others.
The commissioners are; Senator Peter Mafany Musonge (chairperson), Oumarou Djika (vice), Ama Tutu Muna, George Ngwane Essambe, Angouing nee Ndanga Francoise, Djenabou Bakary, Mbappe nee Tiki Ngonde Ndjo’o Agnes, Abbe Jean-Marie Bodo, Abouem a Tchoyi David, Ahmadou Mohamadou Baba, Efoua Mbozo’o Samuel, Halle Nicodemus Ndessi, Itoe Mutanga Benjamin, Mbafor Jean-Marc Afessi and Ngambo Fondjo Pierre Vincent.
The national commission on the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism was created by Presidential Decree on January 23, 2017.
