Ambassador Jean Marc Chataigner announces arrival of over 10 European Dev’t Bank officials this week

The European Union Ambassador and Head of Delegation to Cameroon, Jean Marc Chataigner has announced that about 10 officials from the European Development Bank will be in Cameroon this week for the first ever Cameroon-European Union Business Week.

He was speaking last February 16, 2024 during a press conference he jointly granted with the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.

Speaking in prelude to the holding of the European Union Business Week in Cameroon slated for February 20 to 22, 2024 at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel and at the Yaounde Conference Centre for Promote 2024 under the theme “seizing business and investment opportunities in Cameroon,” the Ambassador of the European Union to Cameroon, H.E Jean Marc Chataigner said “we have the interest to develop a market that will favour both European consumers and Cameroonian consumers. About 10 officials from the European Development Bank will be in Cameroon for the very first time to seal deals with Cameroonians.”

The press conference equally marked the official launching of Investing in Young Businesses in Africa (IYBA).

Ambassador Jean Marc explained that the organization of the Cameroon-European Union Business Week is a tool to promote the public-private privileged dialogue and as an instrument of support existing economic relations constitute a decisive step for the implication. He equally used the occasion to throw more lights on how the EU intends to support the private sector in Cameroon.

On his part, the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey said this will be for the very first time after the signing of the cooperation documents last 2023 at SAMUA. Cameroon and her European Union partner wants to intensify their relationship.

“55% of Cameroon products go to the European Union markets. We are happy to welcome about 100 enterprises in Cameroon for this event.” Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey explained.

He insisted that “this is an opportunity for us to share information on both sides. We will provide information and we will take advantage of new technology to boost the private sector.”

The Cameroon-European Union Business Week will feature exhibition, forum, debates, B2B etc.

The private sector endowed with the power of the structural transformation of the Cameroonian economy will be wooing potential investors from the European Union who will be in Yaounde for the Cameroon-European Union Business Week.
