Nestle Cameroon determined to develop human capital to stamp out pediatric problems

The leading food producer Nestle Cameroon has expressed their continued determination devoted to the health and wellbeing of children in Cameroon.

The declaration was made during a ceremony where Nestle Cameroon in collaboration with the Cameroonian Pediatric Society celebrated the inclusion of 23 new residents and interns in pediatrics last February 29, 2024 in Yaounde.

Nestle Cameroon’s decision to reinforce their efforts in this struggle arises from the revelation of the 2018 Demographic and Health Survey that indicates that in under 5 per 1000 live births group, an alarming 108 die with malnutrition being a leading cause, according to Nestle Cameroon’s release.

The ceremony which also served as a scientific symposium themed, “the survival of the child in line with the training of residents and interns of pediatrics “were presented by esteemed pediatricians  such as Professor Nelly Kamgang and Dr Marcelle Ehouzou who emphasized or underscored “the importance of multisectoral actions involving all stakeholders to efficiently reduce infant mortality in Cameroon,” indicated the Nestle Cameroon readout.

Nestle Cameroon’s vision of continually developing human capital in pediatrics (and other respects) had resulted into the signing of a “strategic partnership or alignment with the Ministry of Public Health to contribute to training. Since then they have made significant progress.

For instance, the 38th batch of pediatrics residents also dubbed “promotion competence” by their sponsor Professor SAP Suzanne were showcased by their mentors, who as reported by the release, were asked “to work with courage, passion, accountability and dedication to reduce infant mortality and assure child survival in Cameroon.

Nestle Cameroon’s long-term involvement to develop human capital is meant to reduce significantly the menace of infant mortality by delivering “the best healthcare services to children and families across the country. “ reiterated the Nestle Cameroon readout.”

The elated Nestle Cameroon’s General Administrator was quoted to have expressed his unalloyed support for the new pediatric residents emphasizing the company’s commitment to their professional success: “I join SOCAPED in welcoming the new pediatric residents and wishing them every success in their professional careers. Through the Nestle Nutrition Institute, we will continue to support new residents and all healthcare professionals in strengthening their capabilities on child nutrition issues,” for future generations.

The ceremony was studded with a long list of highly reputed professionals and experts in this domain from the Ministry of Health, related foundations and universities, among others.
