Insiders say Prometal Groupe has started production at their promised domestic gas unit. This is said to be Cameroon’s first modern factory for manufacturing domestic gas bottles, according to a readout.
The handiwork of the Prometal Groupe called Progaz is an investment valued at FCFA 18 billion, handling a capacity estimated at 600 000 gas bottles a year with a much lower current demand of 400 000 bottles a year.
TotalEnergies has been commended for their contributions using their expertise and long-term experiences as a globally –reputed integrated producer and supplier of energy, the release from Prometal Cameroun explained.
Prometal Groupe was delighted that they fulfilled their distributor’s (TotalEnergies) requirements and their distributors were also delighted at the initial higher production capacity being higher than the estimated consumption level.
The Groupe rapidly linked-in and commended their distributors; “With marketers ensuring that the factory meets their quality requirements, the TotalEnergies team led by their Director General of Commerce and Specialties Francois Jabea visited our facilities. He and his colleagues were able to verify the start-up of the factory. They were delighted with this initiative which will allow Cameroon to produce 600 000 bottles annually when national demand is (yet) only 400 000 bottles annually.
“In excess this is one of Cameroon’s new leading role in assuring the sustainable supply of domestic consumption and also playing the role of exporter, (thereby) meeting the needs of the regional market and buttressing our position as domestic producer.”
This new milestone through the creation of Progaz by the Groupe headed by Groupe CEO Hayssam Jammal has included Prometal Cameroon in the sector and adding a major provider in the CEMAC region.
