Decamped or better still dismissed militant of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun – MRC, Hon. Noumba Serge Simeon has sued the party’s chair, Maurice Kamto alongside two others for what he terms organised band swindle. The two others include Tassa Andre Marie and Nzongang Albert. The trio is also being accused of defamation and creation of disorder, non-compliance with agreements etc.

According to Hon. Noumba, they are a group of MRC militants who have been victims of the said actions by the party’s officials. “In line with the formation of the party, we have invested over FCFA 80 Million between 2013 and 2023.

The suit which was deposited in the Mifi Tribunal in Bafoussam in March, has now gained steam as the accused were recently summoned to face the said charges.

The MRC party was established in August 2012 by Maurice Kamto. It won a single seat in the 2013 parliamentary elections. In December 2021, around thirty executives and activists from the MRC were sentenced to prison terms for insurrection and endangering state security. After boycotting the 2020 municipal and legislative elections, the MRC currently has no representation in Parliament. A recent frustration is the postponement of the Legislative election of 2025 to 2026, making it an uphill task for the party to present a candidate in the upcoming presidential election in October 2025. As a result, Kamto and his MRC currently face both internal and external heat.

Recall that Hon. Noumba and about 660 militants of the MRC reportedly dumped the party to return to their roots, the Social Democratic Front, SDF party recently. In a letter addressed to the national president of the MRC, Pr. Maurice Kamto, Noumba had stated that he was leaving the party due to various vices he observed during his time there. He had in the letter cited political injustice, corruption, arrogance, craftiness and egotism which he said rocks the MRC. The former MP had equally accused Pr. Kamto of not having the notion of justice in handling the affairs of the party.

The said letter of the former MP was in reaction to his supposed dismiss from the MRC, reportedly announced by Kamto over the airwaves. “I only learnt from a radio announcement that I am no longer a militant of the MRC”, he said, noting that he learnt of the information at a time he was busy working for party interest.

“Today, I see that this man isn’t sincere in his engagements”, he says in reference to Kamto, citing cases of MRC militants who have been “abandoned” in prison, like the party’s first vice-president, Alain Fogué and others.

“The leader doesn’t have the notion of justice in his head; it’s all about ego and the promotion of corruption in the party. I have seen all of this in the party and it’s the reason why I am leaving”, he had stated.

Hon. Noumba was secretary of the regional federation of the West region under the MRC after quitting the SDF. “I did not join the MRC by chance, it is Pr. Maurice Kamto who came to me with a delegation of three persons about three times requesting I join the party with my people in 2013”, he had explained.

The politician was a vibrant SDF militant noted for his media outings and interventions during NEC meetings. In 2011, he declared his candidature to succeed John Fru Ndi at the helm of the SDF, though declining later. He bags a Masters in Political Science obtained in 2004 from the University of Yaounde II, SOA.
