The General Manager of the National Refining Corporation, better known by its French acronym, SONARA, El Hadj Harouna Bako traveled with a powerful delegation from Limbe to Yaounde to take part at the 13th edition of the Government Action Fair, better known by its French acronym SAGO, last July 20 to 28, 2024.
According to the Director of Communication, Public Relations, Translation and Interpretation at the Cameroon Oil Refinery, Chief Divine Ebong Pende Epie, “His very active presence at SAGO was a very big booster to SONARA’s participation both at the official opening ceremony and within the SONARA’s stand itself at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.”.
On what the company came to do at the 2024 edition of SAGO, Chief Ebong Pende explained that “preliminary, I will like to say that SONARA has taken part at all the 13 editions of the Government Action Fair. Our participation in all the editions of SAGO falls within the framework of the company’s corporate image building policy and events such as this one serves as a true platform for SONARA to be able to showcase, that is give visibility to the company’s refining activities, inform the public on activities we have been carrying out over the years particularly those on course etc.”
The Communication, expert further told The SUN that “Our presence here at this 13th edition of SAGO is peculiar to tell its numerous visitors, the media and the public as a whole including our partners of course that despite the fire incident of May 31, 2019, the company is still waxing strong and this is largely to a good number of special measures taken by the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya for SONARA to remain steadfast to its strategic and regalia mission of supplying the local markets with basic petroleum products.”
He concluded that “SONARA’s 13th participation at SAGO is special because it is happening at the time when SONARA has a new General Manager with a new vision and with specific responsibility to give SONARA a facelift. “Our GM, El Hadj Bako Harouna was appointed last February 2024. There is a flicker of hope on the horizon because government is working tooth and nail to make sure that the reconstruction and rehabilitation of SONARA is effectively put in place as instructed by the President of the Republic during his State of the Nation’s address last December 31, 2023.”
