“The message I brought from the Bar to the Lawyers in Fako is that it’s a wonderful thing that the executive of FAKLA has done to organise this training on the challenges that they are facing in their day-to-day practice and I urge them to take it very seriously,” he said.

The training was organised under the theme: “The Contemporary Common Law Lawyer in Cameroon; Practice and Ethics.” It was a training where some of the most experienced among the corps of Fako Lawyers were chosen to help share their knowledge to the other colleagues, especially the over 200 pupil advocates who were sown in over a week ago.

The lead resource person was Limbe-based lawyer, Barrister Peter Tumnde, who happens to have put in over 42 years of practice. Drawing from his over four decades of experience, Barrister Tumnde sought to draw the attention of his peers to some of the malpractices that he considered were tainting their profession today and threatening to bring it into disrepute.

He urged his fellow colleagues to strive to be that lawyer who, at all times, is capable of “moving in the streets with his or her head held high.”

On his part, FAKLA president, Barrister EpeyAsoh thanked his peers for the massive turnout and reminded them of some salient points. “Unity does not mean uniformity but in FAKLA, we are united and I wish to say let us continue.”

In a press chat, he intimated that, “To the lawyers, I want to say that they gave me their support and through it we did alot as a team. The new president will have to continue from where I stopped”.
