Former students of Sacred Heart College, Mankon, under the banner of Sacred Heart Ex-Students Association, SHESA were in Limbe recently for their annual National General Assembly, hosted by SHESA Atlantic Chapter.
For three days, the over 400 members of the association had a full dose of activities and exchanges amongst classmates of different batches and classes of the college.
Amongst other highlights of the Annual General Assembly, the body took time to revisit its constitution and make some amendments ahead of its Elective General Assembly slated for Douala in November 2025.
Speaking during the event, SHESA General President, Suh Romanus, expressed joy for a successful general assembly. “It has been a wonderful success, really great and unforgettable AGM in Limbe!”, Suh said.
He added that the reason they are bringing young members is the fact that the present constitution does not favour them, so they want a provision that will make it easy for young members to come in.
“Young people are the firebrand, strength and energy of the association. If we don’t bring them in, we’re aging and the association needs to continue…”
“When young ones are present you’ll see fireworks generating energy and enthusiasm among others, so we want them to come in, that’s why we are amending the constitution”, Suh explained.
He furthered that other chapters outside the country will also come in. He opined that they want to renew themselves, for any institution which does not renew itself is dead, so they are renewing themselves to be strong.
Suh Romanus cites some key points of focus during the AGM which are; working on the constitution, improving on financial report by employing a professional among others.
On his part, the branch president of SHESA Limbe, Julius Che Tita said preparing for the 2024 SHESA AGM has been a long and onerous journey for Shesa Limbe.
“Our goal in SHESA Limbe was to prepare and deliver a rendezvous which would make absentees envious of those who attended. We are here this weekend first because of the sacrifices Limbe Shesans have made but most especially because of the coordination of our nettes”
“Our Nettes have been selfless in putting together this event. We are also eternally indebted to our sponsors who assured the financial resources needed”, Che said.
