Ghost towns ‘enforcers’ now target NW CPDM bigwigs

By WAMBO EMMANUEL IN BAMENDA
The wave of violence resulting from the fallouts of the Anglophone crisis seems to be turning its tide towards bigwigs of the ruling CPDM party in the North West region.
Two vehicles belonging to Mezam II A section president, Anye Cletus Matoya and that of the CPDM section president for Ngi in the Momo East were torched recently. This has stoked fear in the ranks of the party as no one is sure of who might be the next victim. Even though the police are yet to identify who these arsonists are, a host of the CPDM elite from across the region are pointing an accusing finger at some secessionist aiming to eliminate the CPDM party in the northwest region.
Though the subject of numerous threats and the recent burning of his cars, the Mezam II A CPDM section president, Anye Cletus Matoya, says he has not been cowed. He maintains that Cameroon is one and indivisible and as a nation that is practicing multi-party politics, people should be allowed to exercise their freedom of choosing which party to belong to. He noted that as section president of a ruling political party, the CPDM, he has nothing against the people but encouraged them to join his party that was born in Bamenda.
“Those who are fanning the flames of hatred and encouraging these acts of arson for whatever reason should be ruled out”, He warned. He called on supporters of the party in the Mezam II A section not to panic because of what happened to him.
Even though his comrade of Momo- Ngi section shared a similar sentiment after his car was also torched, some comrades in Momo-Ngi think that despite their sacrifices for the party, they are yet to be compensated for their efforts. They said they have never been given the opportunity to have a parliamentarian, mayor or senator.
The elites equally regretted the fact that they give all the support to the CPDM party but still have to travel on very deplorable roads to get from the divisional head quarter to the subdivision.
