The principal of Government High School Limbe, Lois Ebenye Ikome has blamed the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of the country for putting her institution in a very tight financial corner.
“Most students are still at home, for those who are at school, very few have paid their fees”, Lois Ebenye told reporters.
Madam Lois Ebenye was speaking on Tuesday October 24, 2017 during the handing-over ceremony of 20 toilets and 3 water fountains to GHS Limbe by Cosmos Educational Press Ltd.
She used the occasion to remind parents of the importance of education to their children reason why they should take it very seriously and provide the children with the necessary school needs to enable them study.
She however expressed optimism that the ongoing social crisis will be settled soon and proper solutions will bring peace to Cameroon.
She applauded the initiative of the General Manager of Cosmos Educational Press Ltd, Atem Emmanuel for initiating the project and ensuring its completion in record time. According to the Principal, the donation by Cosmos is the beginning of a lasting and mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions.
Speaking earlier, the South West Regional Marketing Manager of Cosmos, Che Ngwa Ignatius said the 20 pit toilets and 3 fountains for students was an initiative by Cosmos to complement government and PTA’s effort.
He added that this is not the first time that Cosmos is engaging in such gestures; in 2014 Cosmos donated 5,000 copies of text books to the Bakassi area and 6,000 in Fontem in 2015 as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The representative of the delegate of secondary education for Fako, Teteh Edwin said the importance of toilets and running taps in the school environment and to life in general cannot be over emphasized.
He added that the toilets and water points will enable the teachers and students to work and study in a clean and healthy environment with will later translate to better performance.
