The population of Kondengui quarter in the nation capital is yet to believe what they saw and heard last November 2, 2017 following the discovery of the corpses of three children strangled and stabbed to death by their own father.
The corpses of the three school children aged 13, 6 and 3 years old were discovered last November 2 in a residence at Kondengui. The children attending school in Yaoundé were living with their father who returned to Cameroon from Switzerland where he is said to have spent about twenty years. Before the tragic incident, the wife of the killer-dad is said to have returned to Switzerland to collect their remaining property.
The man is said to have carefully planned his act by sending their house help on leave over the weekend under the pretext that he was to travel to Douala with his children.
Neighbours said they noticed that the residence remained closed up to Tuesday and on Wednesday November 2, 2017 the father came out of their residence with his three children in the morning and greeted them.
Eye witness said it was towards evening of that same day that the police arrived on the scene after they were alerted by officials of the Swiss Embassy in Yaoundé where the man took refuge after confessing to his heinous crime.
The police discovered in the residence, the corpses of the three children stabbed to death in a state of decomposition. The police have opened an investigation in order to know what must have pushed the man, Steve Michel Setane to take away the lives of his three children.
He is currently detained at the regional division of the judicial police in Yaounde for further investigation.
