Gas explosion aboard Chinese vessel leaves five critically injured

A gas explosion aboard a Chinese fishing vessel has left five men fighting for their lives a suffering severe burns last Thursday, December 14 of the coast of Idenau, Limbe.
According to reports, a fire engulfed the vessel after a gas explosion inside the Chinese fishing vessel while workers were actively working.
The cause of the gas explosion is yet to be determined but following preliminary investigations by the Idenau gendarmerie brigade; this might be due to a technical fault or a short circuit aboard the vessel.
Among the five men rescued by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion on the vessel are three Chinese nationals and two Cameroonians, all with severe burns.
They were rush to the Limbe Region Hospital in a very critical state. They were later transferred to the Douala Referral hospital for intensive care as at press time.
