The future of the world relies on mathematical sciences -Prof Wilfred Gabsa

The representative of the minister of Higher Education, the Secretary General of Higher Education Prof. Wilfred Nyongbe Gabsa says the future of the world relies on mathematical sciences. He was speaking on Wednesday June 20, 2018 during the fifth graduation batch ceremony of 36 students from the African institution of Mathematic Science, AIMS Cameroon. The ceremony took place at the Limbe City Council Hall down beach
“When I look at you, I see Africa flying in the sky” Prof. Wilfred Gabsa told the graduates.
Prof. Wilfred thanked the Head of State and the Prime minister for all the decisions being taking to promote Higher Education in Cameroon. He also thanked the governor and SDO for Fako for their constant support of security of AIMS Cameroon, as well as parents, for being there for the graduates.

Responding to the worry raised by the Government Delegate that rumors say the government plans to remove the school from Limbe, Prof. Wilfred Gabsa said AIMS has come to stay in Limbe. He also pledged to extend the plight of lack of female teachers to the hierarchy. “AIMS Cameroon will always be at the center stage to promote mathematicians in Cameroon and Africa” Prof. Wilfred Gabsa said.
Speaking earlier, the center president of AIMS Cameroon, Mama Foupouagnigni said “mathematics is what will help move us from darkness to light”, he added that mathematics is human culture, in which no country has ever developed without it.
The president of AIMS Cameroon’s advisory council, Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga (UB’s VC) said AIMS has established itself nationwide in the domain of Mathematics, in which AIMS has been widely engaged in huge number of activities, mentoring of Mathematicians in schools in Limbe, seeking solutions at the Limbe Regional Hospital, CDC among others in the area of Mathematics.
Welcoming the representative of minister of Higher Education, the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Motanga Andrew Monjimba said AIMS has been an active participant of FESTAC, he added that the presence of AIMS has given Cameroon the opportunity to host great Mathematicians in Limbe, which the town is now moving from the town of friendship to the City of friendship, science and technology.

Motanga Andrew however pleaded that all should be done to ensure normalcy in the various state universities. Motanga also expressed his worry that ever since the government mapped out land for the construction of a permanent site for the school; nothing has been done to that effect.
On his part the guest speaker, Barrister Nico Halle stressed that Africa is the richest continent in the world but because of absence of integrity, it remains poor. He added that peace exists where there is love, justice, equity, democracy, accountability, human rights among others. Barrister Nico Halle told the graduates to be truthful and have integrity and fight against any setback that can destroy harmony.

On her part, the Chief of operating officer of AIMS Cameroon, Mary Bernadette Fultang said AIMS’ mission is to lead the transformation of Africa through innovation, scientific training, technical advances and breakthrough discoveries which benefit the whole society.
Speaking on behalf of her peers, the best overall student, Maryse Manuella Moutamal said they all went through 10 months of serious mathematic studies, and are well equipped to forge ahead in their various dreams in life. She thanked their parents, teachers and government for their convenient environment and all those who assisted them during their studies. Maryse Manuella promised that they will be good ambassadors of AIMS wherever they go, and will keep the flag of AIMS Cameroon flying high.
It should be noted that AIMS has created 6 six branches in Africa, and for five years, they have trained 205 students, 63 female from 24 African countries.
