State honours police inspector murdered in Kumba

Late Inspector of Police, Susan Ngwengale Elema who died serving at the Mile One Police Station Kumba has been honoured for paying the supreme sacrifice for the good of the nation.
Her lifeless body was discovered three days after being kidnapped by unknown gunmen. She was posthumously decorated with the National Medal of Bravery.
The exercise was officiated by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme, Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong on behalf of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces during a solemn ceremony Friday, August 3.

The ceremony that took place at the esplanade of the Kumba Central Police Station saw the presence of colleagues and family members who came to pay their last respect to the deceased.
The ceremony was animated by a special musical unit of the Police Corp from Yaoundé. Her mortal remains were later laid to in Kumba.

On June 24, Inspector Susan Ngwengale Elema was abducted at her Mile One neighbourhood in Kumba by unidentified gunmen to an unknown destination. Three days after, on June 27 her corpse was discovered around Kake, Kumba I Subdivision.
Though no reason was forwarded as to why she was kidnapped, many associated it to the ongoing socio-political crisis in the two English Speaking Regions of Cameroon. Report holds that immediately after her abduction, an alleged sum of FCFA 5million was demanded to secure her release.
It is unclear if the unpaid ransom could be the reason why she was murdered.

Police Inspector Susan Ngwengale Elema was born on October 28, 1964 in Madie Ngolo, Toko Subdivision of Ndian Division in the South West Region. She began her career as a state nurse where she worked in Kumba, Ndong Ntam and Big Ngwandi before joining the Police Force in the year 2000.
Upon graduation she was posted to Buea and was later transferred to the Kumba Central Police Station, a couple of years after she was then transferred to the Mile I Police Station. She worked there until her painful death last month.
