Mukete Plantation Estate lays–off over 100 workers

Compiled By Talla Aghaa Christopher

One of the highest employers of labour in the South West Region, the Mukete Plantation Estate, comprising pineapple, rubber, palms, and cocoa plantations, with headquarters in Kumba is reported to have sent above 100 workers home for economic reasons with the Anglophone Crisis being the cause.
THE SUN gathered that separatists fighters for the past months have not only been kidnapping workers of the plantation and demanding for ransom, but have equally been destroying their plantations and chasing workers, notably the plantation along Matoh Road in Kumba.
We gathered that the activities of separatists has caused enormous losses to the giant Agro- industrial company thus leaving the General Manager Mbe Godfred Mukete with no other option than to reduce the number of workers in the company’s pay roll.
