As the countdown narrows to this year’s 2019Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture, FESTAC, with barely 19 days to go, chairpersons of various committees are working tooth and nail. They say they are burning the midnight oil towards an effective and remarkable event.
Speaking to The SUN, the Head of the Carnival Committee said he is very happy and honored that his first preparatory meeting went well. He however thinks that there is still a lot to put in place.
While expressing satisfaction with the ideas that were brought up during the previous meeting, Mayor Ro-danny Mokako said many people are buying the idea of the carnival and prays that it will be a hitch free festival. The Chairman of the Carninal Committee urged the entire population of Limbe municipality to join them for the exercise to go on smoothly.
“For the success of this yearly jamboree, we are putting our best. It is not an easy task. We are trying to bring everyone on board to see that this year’s event should be bigger and better than the previous years. It is a work in progress. We are still working,” Mayor Mbua told The SUN
“I am calling on the population of Limbe, Fako, South West Region and the whole nation to come and let us put hands on deck for the successful Limbe cultural festival, FESTAC,” Mayor Mokako said.
On his part, the Head of the Ecumenical Committee, Dr. Rev. Teke John said, this year’s major Innovation of the Ecumenical service is that they will be reflecting on a special theme and will have a female pastor to preach.
Dr. Rev. Teke opined that this year, children will be participating in intercession and that ministers of God fellowship will be carrying out evangelism exercise, to preach the Gospel to those who will be coming into the Limbe, the Town of friendship.
On his part, the chairperson of Publicity and Communication Committee, Wasso Norbert Binde said preparations have picked up steam especially after the presentation of the prizes to the public on Women’s Day. He says there was a caravan in town where the prizes were showcased.
Since then, Wasso says the population has been rushing to buy the tickets especially given that publicity of the event has been stepped up.
Wasso added that they have ramped up with a proximity publicity campaign in a bid to keep the population informed of the goings-on at Limbe FESTAC 2019. “On Saturday, March 29, there will be Miss FESTAC and the official opening on Saturday April 6, 2019,” he said.
