UK reiterates support for industrial growth partnership in Cameroon

The United Kingdom has reiterated its support for the private sector in Cameroon in order to boost industrial growth. The reassurance was made at Promote 2019 by the British High Commissioner in Cameroon, H.E Rowan James Laxton during the UK Day last February 19, 2019 crowned at the High Commissioner’s Residence in Yaounde by a business reception.
Speaking at the UK theme on the theme “partnering for industrial growth,” H.E Rowan James Laxton disclosed that the UK government is ready to promote boom in private sector.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland willingness to continuously support the private sector was demonstrated in the large pavilion comprising of UK government and private sectors entities to promote partnership existing between the UK and the private sector in Cameroon.

While enterprises and business officials in the domains of brewery, retailing, oil and gas sectors such as Diageo group, Gaz du Cameroun, Actis etc gathered at the Partnering for Industrial Growth Forum to discuss investment opportunities for British companies in Cameroon, the Education Forum was an encounter between British Universities and students who aspire to study in the UK. During the forum, participants were presented various existing opportunities and advantages in studying in Britain. They were equally schooled on admission opportunities and procedures of British universities and colleges. Event highlights included: Study in the UK panel discussions, UK scholarships, success stories from UK scholars, on the spot admissions amongst others.
Strategic communication at the UK pavilion was showcased by Local Youth Corner, Cameroon Chevening Alumni, Girls Excel and House of Kara.
The UK pavilion opened its doors officially to the public with a display of 3D printing by the Cameroon team of Girls in Tech in the presence of Deputy High Commissioner, Sharon Ganney.
The special reception offered by the UK High Commissioner was attended by top dignitaries such as the US Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Henry Peter Barlerin, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Basic Education, Dr Asheri Vivian Kilo, eldest Senator Nfon V.E. Mukete who stole the show by sharing his age, traditional leadership, political and business experiences.
