Women in mile 4 Bonadikombo village in the Limbe I sub division took to the street on Tuesday March 26, 2019, protesting inadequate portable water supply. According to report the SUN gathered, for over five years water crisis in Bonadikombo mile four has been a bone of contention between the village and the state.
The recent constant destruction of the pipe at the catchment by unidentified persons demanding ransom, have left many with unanswered questions on why water which is life could be tempered with.
It should be recalled that few weeks back, during repairs at the catchment, two persons were shot, though they later recovered from the gunshot injuries meted by unidentified persons.
This recent protest marks the third time women in Bonadikombo mile 4 have come out in their numbers to stage a protest march to the Chief’s palace and around the village, pleading with whosoever is tempering with the water to pity their condition.
“We have problems because of water, water is life; they can play with anything here in mile 4 but not water”, one of the women said.
Bonadikombo mile 4 with over 30.000 inhabitants is said to have increased in its population due to its ever flowing clean natural water from the foot of mount Cameroon around Ewongo village around Wotutu in Buea subdivision, coupled with the fact that, the water is almost free since it is community water.
But with things going off hands, pundits say an in-depth investigation that may see some heads rolling have been ordered by the powers that be to fish out those who are or maybe behind the constant sabotage of the community water.
Other freethinkers say, mismanagement of the water funds, push the Chief HRH Nanyowe David Essombe to step in, in order to put sanity within the management committee, at the detriment of some committee members who were reaping where they never sowed.
