BY SIMON NDIVE KALLA from Bangem
The Mayor of the Nguti council, Tong George Enoh has pleaded for the government of Cameroon to put an automatic end to the crisis that has gone on to empty his municipality.
The Mayor made the plea through the Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe Muanenguba Division, South west region, during the first ordinary session dedicated for the adoption of the administrative, management and stores management accounts for 2018, held on Wednesday April 17 at SDO’s conference Hall in Bangem.
The Mayor began by regretting the fact that his Council has been forced to hold its session, for the fourth time, out of the municipality, for the same consistent reasons.
“Nguti is empty as a result of the crisis. I’m here today to apportion responsibility to anybody or group of persons. We are experiencing hardship and suffering we have never experienced before. Let the leadership of our dear country take its responsibility and re-establish unity”, Mayor Tong George said.
He furthered that “I want to say that, the acceleration of the process of effectively putting in place the process of Decentralisation is experiencing speed brakes as a result of the security concerns we are experiencing in our area. Putting in place mechanisms to resolve this crisis is the wish of all. It is extremely pathetic that for three years, schools have been very timid in this municipality which is virtually deserted”, Tong George said.
The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Kupe Muanenguba Division, Keyantio Augustine hailed the Mayor for Nguti Council, Tong George Enoh, for realising 74% budget forecast.

According to Keyantio Augustine, effective collection of FCFA 368,971,738 representing a gross budgetary execution rate of 74% shows a mark of hard work by the Mayor and his executives, considering the present situation ongoing in North West and South West Regions.
The SDO congratulated Mayor Tong George and his team and urged them to remain conscious, as more is still expected of them. “Dear Councilors, as the people’s representatives you all have a great task of continuing to sensitise your children to drop down their guns, so that, our much cherished peace can be restored”, Keyantio Augustine added.
He however regretted that, the session could have been held two weeks ago in Nguti but was not possible due to the ongoing crisis, reason why it was held in the Divisional head quarters of Bangem.
“Your mandate is coming to an end and we are looking forward to new elections of councilors both at the level of local Councils and Regional Councils. You should all be focusing on creating an enabling environment for these coming elections. All this can only be attained through a peaceful atmosphere”, Keyantio Augustine reminded the Councilors.
Mayor Tong applauded the SDO for all his efforts to ensure the session holds, while doffing his heart to his councilors and staff for braving all odds to be present for the session and ensuring a successful functioning of the office from hideouts.
Presenting the administrative, management and stores accounts, Mayor Tong George Enoh said with the initial budget allocation of FCFA 500 million, recurrent revenue was budgeted at FCFA 300 million in which effective collection came up to FCFA 167,581,194 representing an execution of 56%. Investment revenue was FCFA 114,400,000 representing 57%, effective collection of FCFA 368,971,738 representing 74%.
The Mayor revealed that, the operation produced excess revenue over collection of FCFA 84,906,208 and FCFA 86,990,544 was brought forward for 2017, while stressing that, the execution experienced a slide drop of 1%.
The municipal touch bearer of Nguti urged the councilors to surmount the difficulties ahead of them especially the upcoming political consultations and vote wisely. “It will be a moment of reckoning for us all. It will be time for the party to present lists for the next electorates to evaluate us”, he said.
The Mayor announced the commencement of the first phase of the municipal guest house, and also the availability of funding for the entire execution of the modern motor park in Manyemen and that they had finally discovered the file containing all documents related to the Nguti Council forest.
