The Tiko council, under the stewardship of visionary Mayor, Moukondo Daniel Ngande, has succeeded to change its class, from being a class 3 council to a class 2 council, even in the midst of the tough and rough times within the South west region.
The information was made public, during the council’s 1st ordinary session for 2019 consecrated to examine the administrative, management and stores management accounts for 2018, which held on Friday, April 26, at the council premises.
According to the Mayor, when his team took over the Tiko Council in 2013, they met an administrative account of FCFA 747.326.598, and they have successfully upgraded the accounts to FCFA 1.052.916.702, which therefore “qualifies and upgrades our council from a class 3 to a class 2 council”, Mayor Moukondo emphasized, and congratulated his team for collectively placing hands on deck to make the achievement possible.
For the 2018 accounts, reports presented showed that the council experienced an increase in revenue of FCFA 147.030.930 (13.9%) and an increase in expenditure of FCFA 133.532.225 (13.25%) as compared to 2017.
Mayor Moukondo held that following the 2018 action plan, there was a 65% execution rate of projects financed by Council Internal funds and 100% execution rate of projects financed by the Public Investment Budget (PIB).
While noting that the successes of 2018 were welcomed, the Mayor regretted that, more revenue would have been harvested, but for some unscrupulous revenue collectors who pocket collections, and the continuous temporal shutdown of business establishments due to the ongoing socio-political unrest currently being witnessed within and out of the region.
With all 38 Councillors present including two proxies, the Mayor urged his collaborators to deliberate in a spirit of maturity and sincere collaboration for the benefit of the Tiko Municipality.
The representative of Fako Senior Divisional Officer, First Assistant SDO, Bejedi Otto Richard II, appreciated the turnout of all Councillors which he held was a demonstration of maturity and a high sense of responsibility. He also congratulated Mayor Moukondo and his team for braving the tough times to record a success rate in 2018. The administrator also urged the Councillors to work hand in glove with the administration in an attitude of frank collaboration and to remain vigilant in promoting the spirit of peace and living together.
While recognizing that this might certainly be the Councillor’s last session, Bejedi Otto took time to give each and every Councillor a handshake, personally congratulating them for their steadfastness in fostering the development of their municipality. This gesture was also followed by Mayor Moukondo, who preached the gospel of forgiveness.
According to the Mayor, he came to the council in 2013 with a vision, and after six years, he believes that vision has become real and evident, recognized in multiple development strides which his team has successfully carried out to give the Tiko Municipality a facelift, including among several things like, the beautiful council edifices, ensuring beautiful structures along Tiko’s major streets, road pavements, creation of boreholes almost in every quarter, construction of heath centers and proper classrooms in some schools, increasing the performance level of the council which made the council earn FCFA 50million as the best performed council in the area, constant payment of salaries etc.
