Patients of the Kumba District Hospital, Ma D’s Orphanage and the Women Empowerment and the Family Center, in Kumba have received consignment of items from the American Kumba based elites under the umbrella of the K-Town Association of Atlanta, USA.
The items that comprise of bags of rice, cartoons of groundnut oil and cartoons of soaps were handed to the afore-mentioned groups through their representative in Kumba on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
The items were given to widows, orphans and sick internally displaced persons who have been sidelined from the government humanitarian aid.
According to the representative of the K-Town Association of Atlanta in Kumba, the association sympathizes with their fellow brothers and sisters back home especially as the crisis persists. He noted that they are aware of the difficulties the population go through in search of food and carter for their families.
At the Kumba District Hospital, the Assistant Director, Dr. Etienne Asonganyi thanked the association for their constant assistance to the hospital though the last consignment of medical equipment was razed during the fire incident last February.
“…shortly before the fire incident, the association sent us a forty-foot container of medical supply and after they heard the sad news that happened, they are still preparing to send another. This time they have sent food items for patients and those who have been admitted. On behalf of the population of the Kumba District Hospital and the population who have received the help, we want to thank them”, he noted.
“Those who came for outpatients consultation today were 137 and 97 inpatients and each patient has benefited from the consignment, even patients out of Kumba received the consignment”, he furthered.
Some patients who benefited from the largess of the association expressed joy for the items.
“I am very happy for these items and I want to thank the association for thinking about us back home. Since Munyenge was burnt, it has been very difficult to have food, so when someone gives me food, I really appreciate it and I feel like crying. It will benefit me and family especially during this period that we are in the hospital, a patient by name Moto Marie who came from Munyenge explained.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Women Empowerment and the Family Center, Lucia Ediage equally appreciated the gesture from the association.
The Founder of Ma D’s Orphanage, Diana Mah Foniborg also thanked the association for their assistance and for remembering them despite the difficult times. She called on the Lord Almighty to bless them bountifully so that they can continue to assist them.
