Staff of the Ministry of Public Works and officials of private enterprises in the sector have acquainted themselves with a guide for the technical maturation of projects. The provisional guide was presented to them last July 11, 2019 during a workshop at the National Advanced School of Public Works in Yaounde chaired on behalf of Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi by the Inspector General in charge of Technical Services at the Ministry of Public Works, Awoh Dang Denis.
The document described as a veritable tool which the government through the Ministry of Public Works is putting in place highlights the phases of infrastructure project cycle; instruction, formulation and conception.

For many years now, Cameroon is involved in many construction works; roads, buildings and water wells. Though plans are well drawn up, finances spelt out, technical and financial resources mobilized, experts say some technical aspects are said to be left out.
Consequently, poor execution, overbilling of projects and the non respect of deadlines are recurrent.
According to the Chief of Graphic Pieces Unit at the Ministry of Public Works, Marie Louis Nga Messanga “all of these pose a problem to the maturation of projects given that a mature project is one ready to be realized.”
Opening the workshop, Awoh Dang Denis indicated that government wants to offer the didactic working tool to stakeholders in the public works sector so as to contain prolonged deadlines in the realization of technical studies and mastery of problems linked to recurrent poorly executed works and overbilling.
The guide written on the basis of the Decree of June 2018 setting up rules in the maturation process of projects is a 60-page document divided into two parts and prefaced by the Minister of Public Works, Emanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
