The newly installed Secretary General (SG) to the Limbe City Council (LCC), Kinge Thompson Molonge has been urged to pay close attention to some key projects and activities which are geared towards driving the city to the next level. The request was uttered by the government delegate to the Limbe City Council, Motanga Andrew Monjimba on Thursday, July 11, 2019, as he presided at the event to commission into office, his new collaborator, at the LCC hall in down beach.
Seven key projects and activities were outlined which Kinge Thompson must focus on, in order to engrave his name in the sands of time, after the order of the pioneer SG of the council, Charles Arrey Nkongho, who was praised during the ceremony, for the close to 10 years of meritorious services which he offered to the city, in the line of his duty as SG to the LCC. The projects include: the left Bank Maritime project, building of an ultra-modern market, tarring and rehabilitation of the Cam Water-Towe road and the road behind the Central Police station respectively, follow-up of the operationality of the Mwanja hotel, follow-up of ongoing inter-quarter tourney as well as the preparation of the next edition of the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture, Limbe FESTAC.
As he installed the new SG, the government delegate, Motanga, promised him of his “very open door and transparent collaboration”, describing the city of Limbe as challenging and one with very high expectations. Motanga nonetheless expressed his confidence in Kinge Thompson, referencing his rich academic and professional skills, believing that as a result of his very rich profile, Thompson will surely accomplish his assignment at LCC with little or no problem.
It should be recalled that Kinge Thompson Molonge was appointed SG to the LCC by Presidential Order No. 0408CAB/PR of 18 June 2019, to replace Nokuri Samuel Nokpa who was equally appointed last May 24, 2019, barely three weeks before he will be replaced. Talking about Nokpa, Motanga said: “…who I can say, barely sat on the secretary general’s seat. Very brief as the outgoing secretary general’s tenure might have been, we want to thank you very much for the services rendered during the short spell that you have been with us. Time didn’t give us the chance to appreciate your input, but the very first signs were very positive”, he said.

The announcement of the replacement of Nokuri Samuel Nokpa by Kinge Thompson Molonge last June 18, 2019, did indeed send shock waves across the city of Limbe, as some were already preparing to familiarize with the former, whose installation was being expected shortly. It would be recalled the technical handing over between himself and pioneer LCC SG, Charles Arrey Nkongho had taken place few days earlier prior to his replacement. Nokpa is said to be going back to Ngambe sub division where he came from, to continue his job as Divisional Officer of that sub division, as he awaits what the President, Paul Biya, or perhaps some delegated others have for him.
The installation ceremony which was heavily attended was graced with the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Engamba Emmanuel Ledoux, as well as other administrators, the judiciary, municipal authorities, representatives of public establishments, divisional delegates, traditional authorities, business operators, council staff as well as some Limbe denizens. As dance groups animated after the installation ritual, the team, led by Motanga Andrew, moved to the premises of the LCC in Bota, where the technical handing over notes were signed, by the government delegate and the incoming and outgoing SGs. During this brief ceremony, Motanga assured Kinge Thompson that the notes are good, but advised him to further discuss with his predecessors for more details and clarity.
In a chat with the Press shortly after being installed, Kinge Thompson said “I want to thank the Head of State, His Excellency President Paul Biya for the confidence he has in me. I am aware of the task and I think that 100 days of evaluation will be the best”. He called on the Limbe population to continue supporting the government and the council and announced that their doors are open to innovative ideas, and that they at the LCC, are willing to collaborate with anyone interested to see the development of the city of Limbe.
