CRM, CPP not part of dialogue

Over 1000 Cameroonians will be converging on Yaounde from September 30 to October 4, 2019 for the major national dialogue to seek a lasting solution to the Anglophone crisis and other issues threatening the peace of Cameroon, without major political parties like the Cameroon Renaissance Movement Political Party, CRM and the Cameroon People’s Party, CPP.
In a separate release made public recently, the duo advanced varied reasons for their refusal. CRM made it clear that it cannot take part in the major national dialogue while their president is under detention. While underscoring the fact that the Anglophone crisis has been one of the party’s major concerns, they maintained that without the release of leaders of their political party, allied organizations, militants and sympathisers of the party, they will not be part of the national dialogue. “Our leaders should be the one to sit for the party,” they added.
On her part, the Cameroon People’s Party, CPP had earlier disclosed that it will not be attending pre-dialogue consultations with the Prime Minister, stating that it has sent in its proposals already.
“We have been presenting proposals regularly for years now without any significant change in the attitude and public policies implemented. The documents submitted are sufficiently explicit not to require a delegation of the CPP to go to the Prime Minister’s office following an informal invitation through social networks to the pre-consultations for the National Dialogue,” the release reads. The party noted that no bad consultation will be able to put an end to the deep and unprecedented crises Cameroon is currently facing.
