Cameroonian born US-based medical aesthetician, Dr Edith F. Gibson has launched a pioneer product in the cosmetic industry for dark colour. Launching the product known as XCape last October 22, 2019 at the Solomon Tandeng Muna Foundation in Yaounde, she explained that “It is pioneer in the cosmetics Industry and fruit of extensive scientific research over seven years, sampling over 8000 subjects, analysing their skin types thoroughly in Yaounde, Douala, Buea, Bamenda and several other towns.”
The Beauty healthcare specialist added that “What is innovative about our move is that we want to change the way people look at their skin.”
On what motivated her creation, she justified that “During my studies in the USA, I noticed that people with melanin dark skin are often neglected in the manufacturing of skin care products.”
On those who may think she is out to make money, the beauty health expert reassured that “It is not about selling our product, but about making people to care for their skin because whatever you do to your skin will definitely affect your health. So long as I live, I will continue to sensitise dark people to care for their skin.”
On what may happen if people neglect their skin, she stressed that “failure to care for one’s dark skin will produce problems such as hyper pigmentation, weak skin elasticity that creates cracks on the body, uneven skin tone, dry skin, oily skin etc.”
Owner of Beauty Health Foundation in Yaounde since 2010, Dr Edith Gibson is also a consultant. After completing primary, secondary and high school in Cameroon, she moved over to the United States of America where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree at National Laser Institute. Further studies earned her a PhD in Industrial Psychology at the University of Phoenix Azirona.
