The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Mungo Bridge, launched a sensitisation campaign to fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the region, calling on the population to strictly implement government’s measures to combat the virus.
Bernard Okalia, during the campaign, pleaded with the population to collaborate with the administration to protect their lives and that of their relatives to fight against the spread of the virus. He emphasised that the Minister of Public Health Dr. Manaouda Malachie, has recommended that the population should wear a protective mask when they go out. “We know it’s not comfortable to wear a Mask but we must know it’s an obligation to protect our life and the lives of our loved ones”, the Governor pointed out.

He also urged sons and daughters of the South West Region to emulate the good example of an elite in the region who has offered her clinic in Tiko to use to quarantine patients tested with coronavirus infection.
Bernard Okalia has equally prohibited drinking in off licenses, snacks, night clubs, eating in restaurants etc, holding that those who buy drinks from drinking spots and food from restaurants need to carry them home for consumption, same with such like Palm wine sellers.
