Perspective of Support project for socioeconomic resilience of vulnerable youths in northern regions discussed

Members of the steering committee of the Support Project for the Socio-Economic Resilience of vulnerable youth in Adamawa, North and Far North regions, COPIL PARSE met at their 5th ordinary session last December 16,2021 at Azur Hotel in Yaoundé under the chairmanship of Youth Affairs and Civic Education minister, Mounouna Foutsouin, the presence of the project Head, Andreas Kahler to adopt strategies geared towards optimising the implementation of the ending second phase of the project and project into the future.

They met some few months after the holding of consultations and intergovernmental negotiations in Yaoundé during which the 3rd phase of the project was planned.

Members expressed satisfaction over results on ground as young people, trained and installed continue to produce wealth under the supervision of GIZ and local managers of the ministry.

In his welcome word, the new national coordinator of PARSE, Soilihou Mforain enumerated a number of activities they have organised in the 3 regions. He said materials were offered for the training of youths on gender, partnership, etc and that 1.578 were trained out of 1.500 youths programmed to be trained in 18 fields during the first phase.

Disclosing that, “200 youths benefited from financial education to boost microfinance development by youths,” he said, “apart from the Covid-19 pandemic, post training is a major preoccupation as the project will ensure post training of the 1.578 trained youths this year”.

Launched on October 1, 2016 with external funding (GIZ/EU) of 10 million Euros, PARSE aims to contribute to stability and peaceful coexistence in the Adamawa, North and Far North regions of Cameroon by: improving the socioeconomic resilience of vulnerable youth in these three regions affected by activities of the Boko Haram terrorist sect, and strengthening peaceful cohabitation. In addition to the partner administrations, its implementation involved until 2018, national and international partner NGOs responsible for training beneficiaries, acquiring installation kits and supporting installation.
